Editorial Review

Glodok, a.k.a 'China Town' is packed with numerous rows of Chinese restaurants. But if you think you have had enough of Pu Yung Hai that one person can handle, Vietnam Valley or what the locals call Labu Cafe is where you should go for something different. Located in the hidden, narrow roads of Jalan Labu right in front of the Jayakarta Hotel, you can't miss this place because of the neon lamp posts with a hanging roasted duck . As you enter, Vietnam Valley looks quite modest with the area adorned with wooden furniture and ornaments from traditional Vietnamese handicrafts. Plus the background music is also very Vietnamese.

While you await your main courses to arrive, have a light bite of Tau Hu Tom Lan Bat Chien or Fried Vegetables Tofu that is really crisp, crunchy with a whole shrimp stuffing in it.sweet Vietnamese coffee is what we would definitely recommend with this dish as the coffee has a rich, thick and slightly wicked taste.

When you say Vietnamese food, of course we cannot forget spring rolls such as the Goi Cuon (Pork Steamed Rice Skin) and Banh Cuon (Pork Vegetable Roll) . The Goi Cuon is stuffed with vegetables, shrimp, pork and fish oil while the Banh Cuon consists of pork, mushrooms, vegetables, black pepper and fish oil as well. The portions are quite generous and they are definitely a tasty treat.

For those craving noodles, Pho is the obvious choice. The Pho at Vietnam Valley is simply irresistible. The authentic taste was largely due to their clear, beef broth with a variety of vegetables, beef meatballs, and bean sprouts. To die for!

Taking inspiration from the hanging duck outside on their display, we decided to try Com Vit which is pretty much similar like roast Peking Duck but definitely more succulent. The difference is that it has a texture that is not dry and slightly sweet.

Overall, Vietnam Valley can be a favorite hiding place to enjoy authentic Vietnamese dishes. The price is very affordable compared to the dozens of Vietnamese restaurants located in the mall. Whether you feel like a feast or just to enjoy your Vietnam Coffee or Vietnamese-style Green Tea with pandan aroma, Vietnam Valley is a worth pay to visit.
