One of the biggest advantages of having a restaurant near the coastline of Ancol, will have to be the scenic view of the sea. For those who cannot or do not want to travel that far to Ancol, then we recommend you drive to the Pantai Mutiara sports club and 'chillax' at the New Oceanic cafe. The New Oceanic Cafe is a large venue with a large stage/entertainment area, swimming pool and of course their wooden pier, which is the most coveted and favourite spot, as the view to the ocean is priceless, especially for those who need a break from the Jakarta traffic and pollution. The salty smell of the sea and the damp breeze bring a welcome relief to one's senses

Suprisingly, the crowd here on a daily basis is filled with the young and the restless. We can be quite sure that this is the place where classmates stalk their latest 'crushes' and is practically 'the O.C' hang out of Jakarta.

With loud thumping dance music in the background, swimming pool and good food it is no wonder this place is like a moth to a flame for youngsters. To suit their main target market, New Oceanic Cafe serves an array of easy and non-fussy International foods hailing from Indonesia, Japan, and Italy.

The Seafood Platter and Calamaris definitely fit into the ambience but for the much younger crowd, they mostly enjoy the fried rice option. Especially their Crazy Fried Rice with baso, chicken, shrimp, eggs and chillies. Or the Special Fried Rice that is served standard with a couple of sticks of sate and sunny side up egg. Another favourite treat is the Chicken Cordon Bleu served with a generous amount of cheese. For those hungry for some western food, steak is available such as the Australian tenderloin and sirloin steak @220 grams each. This is served up simply with you choice of sauces and sides.

Another reason why this place appeals to the younger crowd, is because of their unique beer cocktails and original cocktail offerings. If you decide to try the Mr. J-Black drink, we advise you to make sure that you have eaten a good solid meal beforehand, as the drink consists of 12 different types of spirits mixed with a combination of orange and cranberry juices, sweet 'n sour and of a splash of grenadine. This is no child's play drink though.
