Bistro Baron is located at the Plaza Indonesia extension and with its royal blue color dominating the restaurant, neatly pressed white table cloth, small outside area and glass interior they surely got the bistro ambience precise regardless of the fact that its located inside the mall. Also having a renowned international Chef Emmanuel Stroobant (presenter of Chef in Black) as the consultant chef, when it comes to their food, they also got a lot of factors precise.
Having skimmed through their menu you understand that Bistro Baron prides itself on presenting their own special twist to enjoying French cuisine with classic dishes that is a favorite to many. Their Le Baron Salad for instance, Fresh mesclun salad with sprinkles of crispy shallots, thinly sliced smoked duck and a very generous portion of foie gras shavings, is not overcomplicate with ingredients and condiments but rather its sole purpose seems to be how the simple combination of freshness of the mesclun goes very well with the rich textured flavor of the foie gras.
The same concept is applied when you taste their steak tartare. Rather than having all the basic ingredients sliced and diced together with the raw steak, they have rather separated the main ingredients as garnish on the side so that you can savor every bit of the fresh raw steak however you please. Presentation is superb, especially how the raw quail eggs sits on a bed of salt and also the finely sliced chives and pickles with 2 perfect slice of rye bread. As for the mains we highly recommend the Duck Confit cooked to perfection, where the duck leg is rested on a generous portion of potato rosti and long beans. Other places seem to get the Duck Confit wide off the mark by cooking it too salty and dry, but the Bistro Baron has successfully kept the meat lean and juicy especially with their amazing sauce. A must try for those who have an impeccable taste for food.
