Editorial Review
Chandi focuses on fresh and organic dishes using local produces, and with this concept set as their foundation, their dishes will surely not let you down. For example Chandi provide a fixed lunch menu but for dinner it varies depending on what is the freshest produce on that particular day. Its good to find a place that does not compromise on the freshness of their food.
Nevertheless, the first thing that sticks out at this establishment is the amazing piece of art behind the bar. The design is inspired from a sacred Hindu scripture and its decorated with bright neon paints and acrylic lights, truly entrancing. In addition their unique brass ceiling fans and wooden sliding door makes you feel like you are in a posh bar in Havana ready to smoke your Cuban cigars with a nice long cocktail.
As for their dishes it is a mix of International and Asian influenced dishes, with their own unique twist of course. Vegetarians you will adore this place as they seem to incorporate a lot of tofu based dishes such as chunky tofu squares, organic mixed salad (fried tempe, edamame, dragon fruit) with exotic local fruits and tamarind dressing. As for the non vegans, we recommend their black pepper crab dumpling which has a hint of coconut flavor and sweet sauce elegantly wrapped in a thin seaweed strip.
Their best lunch menu will have to be the seared barramundi fillet, served with Indonesian Pepes Mushrooms and Taro Patty, on first glance, is a lot on the plate. But inspired by the way Barbara Streisand ate her food on the movie The mirror has two faces cut a small piece of the perfectly cooked fresh fillet, and the slice of Taro Patty and finally stack it up with the spicy mushrooms, chew it all together and its truly a heavenly combination. The texture of the fish, spicy and aromatic mushrooms and Taro Patty is simply the perfect bite.
Their Sate Lunch is equally delicious with beef tenderloin, top side, local organic chicken with vegetables skewers served on a hot stone, sizzling in front of your eyes. Big thumbs up on their home made spicy peanut sauce which bodes well with their tender meat.
At night Chandi is packed with people enjoying their meals or their cocktails at the bar. With its 80 pax seating capacity we highly recommend you book a table on the weekends. If you dont and have to wait for a table, we recommend you have a go at their passion fruit Caprioska and enjoy their amazing ambience.
