Ce Wei BBQ Restaurant offers a great taste of Chinese cuisine. Its interior mostly dominated by the colors black and red, accented by Chinese sculptures such as Buddha and Dragons portrays that which many of us envision traditional Chinese restaurants to be.
The several dishes consisting of squid, fish, shrimp, red chili, white onion, and ginger with hot sour broth take up to 7 mins at the most to prepare. We started off with the Tom Yum Soup, and although served in a small portion, it is by far the tastiest Tom Yum Soups in Jakarta. Kwe tiau in Penang style (Kwetiau Ala Penang) is a recommended main course specialty at Ce Wei, essentially pork sausage, shrimp meatballs, oyster, bean sprouts and egg fried with kwe tiau, seasoned with black pepper, sweet soy sauce and oyster sauce. Those of you who wish to try something exclusive can order the Sharks fin soup that consists of shrimp, chicken, crab stock and sharks fin mixed with bean sprouts. For drinks the Sun Flower tea is a recommendation and is said to neutralize all the seafood consumed. Other beverages include the Orange Honey Crush, made from melon syrup garnished with slice of orange and the Copacobana, essentially avocado juice garnished with banana on top of the glass.
Its location is a hub for Chinese residents in Jakarta and perhaps the best for those wishing to experience a piece of mainland china in their backyard. So do stop by if you're nearby.
