Bakmi Golek

If you are a serial bakmi (noodle) lover and you live in Jakarta, you would certainly have heard of Bakmi Golek or as many refer to it as 'BaGol', as it has been one of the most favourite noodle houses in the past two decades. With over 20 different types of bakmi available (we have not even included the bihun and kwetiau list), their speciality without a doubt is their bakmi served with the usual sweet chicken bits, vegetables, bakso and boiled quail eggs.

Their generous portion of bakmi is a plus factor, and as their noodles and chicken are slightly sweeter compared to other bakmi places, this is also another plus factor for the typical Indonesian palate because, the sweeter the better is the rule of thumb here. The broth that are accompanies the bakmi is essentially very savoury and we love soaking the fried pangsit (dumplings) into the broth . Speaking of their dumplings, they are quite unique compared to other places. The stuffing is slightly sweeter than anywhere else (surprise, surprise) and the rectangle fried dumplings are folded halfway with the stuffing inside.

But let us remind you that Bakmi Golek is more than just a noodle house, it is also a really good Chinese restaurant. Expect to find every standard Chinese dish you can imagine here, such as porridge, fried rice, capcay, fried fish, fried chicken, vegetables, seafood sapo and much more.

For desserts, we suggest you stay put in your seats as a lady with a tray of different types of traditional Indonesian puddings will be going around the tables.

With a huge parking area and a great outdoor and indoor area, this is the perfect place for a casual gathering where you would not mind being stuck with the bill at the end of the meal, as it is reasonably affordable.
