Oenpao is a chain of Chinese restaurant or cafe out of Jakarta, with 11 branches already established and many more on the way 1st in Bali was Kuta, now a big modern version has opened on Sunset road, Kuta at the Bypass end. It joins the ever increasing number of local food outlets along this road, some of which have already closed down, not long after opening. Any that seek bus loads of tourists are best avoided by private diners, Oenpao is Chinese, very much in the Indonesian style but unlike most of the others along this stretch is air conditioned, offers free Wi-Fi and has an English language menu targeting the whole world not just the local market. It is open from early morning (7.00 am) for Congee that Chinese breakfast, called Bubur in Indonesia, of rice porridge with many different additives. Then it is a variety of Dim Sum, Shu May (stuffed with chicken or prawn meats) and the deep fried versions of Spring rolls and Dumplings, but as with most of these Indonesia style Chinese restaurants Oenpao only offer a few bottled sauces. Dim Sum should always be accompanied by soy,and chilli paste on the table, with other special sauces (preferably made on site in the restaurant's kitchen) provided with certain dishes (ho sin ,sweet and sour, etc) Oenpao also offer all day meals of Hainanese Rice in many combination and those wonderful Cantonese Roasted Meats but only Chicken and Duck, sadly no pork as they maintain their Jakarta Halal restrictions.
