Located in Le Meridian, one of the oldest highly rated hotels in Jakarta, Le Rendez-vous is known to be a popular lobby bar for afternoon Tea or evening cocktails.
Two words describe this lounge, simple and elegant. Guests are welcomed by friendly English speaking waiters who cordially guide them to their seats. The relaxing and friendly atmosphere is accompanied by a medley of soft lounge music and the exclusive interior boasts an array of beautiful classic, modern French ornaments. Le Rendez-vous is credited for serving a great selection of Wines, Bubbly, Martinis, Beers and even Cigars. They are also reputed for a great number of signature French dishes and a diverse menu of both local and International culinary creations, to satisfy anybody with a taste for great cuisine. The chefs are known to pay attention to detail and work with the finest ingredients, many of which are imported from outside Indonesia.
As an entree, we opted for the Le Meridien Beef Burger, a favorite, which consists of prime beef patty stuffed between a toasted sesame bun, served with whole pickle, iceberg lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise accompanied with homemade fries; Our next order was something that has been somewhat of a debate for a long time amongst many Jakartans who all think they know where the Traditional Fried Oxtail Soup is best served. Well we weren't at all disappointed with Le Rendez-vous's approach to this greatly sought after delicacy, which was presented with steamed rice, condiments; Fried and crunchy Vegetables Spring Roll and hot peanut sauce. We also managed to try the Sudirman Club Sandwich, essentially marinated chicken breast, fried egg, turkey bacon, shoestring fries, avocado sauce, and red pepper with mayonnaise. Delicious and fresh! Fortunate to have some room to spare, we went for their desert specialty, the “infamous†Banana Split, 3 scoops of your choice or choices of delicious Ice cream, topped with gorgeous chocolate melt, chocolate chips, almond nut and a whole cherry. The best in Jakarta we ever had! Le Rendez-vous also serves a blend of unique beverages and our choice of Jungle tea, whole mint leaf, lemon, java tea, mint and sugar, was absolutely perfect to end the elaborate dining experience at this classy establishment.
The regulars at this place are usually French, well we're not surprised as its heritage speaks for itself, however, do note that you will be traveling in a three in one zone during the hours of 7 AM- 10 AM and 4 PM- 7 PM. So prepare to pick up a jockey or two, or opt for the safer bet of taking a cab, especially if you plan to drink.
