Chicken has always been an integral part of South Koreans dishes and the hallmarks of Korean style cooked chicken are that they are always full of flavour, unique and most importantly the chicken has to be what the Koreans like to brand as a ‘well-being’ chicken. This essentially means that the best ingredients and best selection of chickens are mandatory when it comes to serving to their customers, and Kamtag Chicken surely knows how to achieve that.
Already a reputable chain in South Korea, Kamtag literally means "Black Chicken" and this is evident when you order your first Kamtag chicken and see that its skin looks like it has been frying for too long in the pan. But the reason for their chicken's black skin is due to their preparation method of utilising green tea leaves which they use to rub onto the chicken as well as the 20 different types of medicinal Chinese and Korean herbs they use in the chicken. Arguably this has got to be the healthiest and most potent chicken we have ever come across. The herbs firstly lend their addictive gusto to the chicken, and they seep all the way down into the white flesh which tenderises the meat to perfection.
They cook most of their chicken in this way and with a wide variety of Korean style chicken dishes to choose from, this place is a haven for those who cannot get enough poultry. Also there are so many different types of Korean ‘pub food’ to choose from as well should you want a break from the mainstream chicken options and as such you cannot get bored eating at Kamtag. However, we dare you to try their Silkworm Larvae soup called Beondegi, which is a street-food treat in Korea.
Another great thing about Kamtag is that most of their dishes are meant to be shared with others and Koreans usually eat these type of dishes with their friends over a pitcher of beer and/or when having a Karaoke session with friends and family, and thus the second floor is where the Karaoke rooms are located. When you want to taste one of the most flavourful and unique chicken around and at the same time witness how an average Korean spends their time with their family and friends, you must visit Kamtag, because the atmosphere really transports you to Korea.
