With a name like "Elbow Room", people will automatically think of tight spaces and corners with hardly enough elbow room to turn around, let alone move. However, once you enter this venue you will realize that their concept however, is to represent a cozy, chilled out and friendly environment that is unpretentious, in a sense where 'thy can meet thy neighbor' as Ponti Young the General Manager describes and certainly there is surely more than enough elbow room here. One of the 'hottest' new venues at Kemang now, Elbow Room has positively created an ambience that resembles a French/European café with warm shades and decorations.
Upon glimpsing of their menu, you will also realize that their food is in tune with their concept especially with their shared dishes like fondues and tapas. Fondues are their sure thing whether it is cheese, chocolate or oil. The Meat fondue a’ la Burgundy oil is a sure favorite with a generous serving of Fresh mushrooms, garlic and your choice of good quality Australian beef, lamb or chicken. If you are having a hard time deciding which meat to dunk in the hot oil then the “mix†platter is the best option. We must warn you though; that you will have to sacrifice a couple pieces of meat as there will be a trial and error in the fondue cooking process. But by 5 minutes you will get the hang of it and enjoy this is European communal dish. You can dip your meat in tartar sauce, spicy red sauce and then the cool yoghurt sauce.
If you're a fan of oxtail dishes, then we highly recommend the Oxtail Bucco, a truly a creative approach to serving an almost oxtail stew but with a twist; it is served in a big glass jar and layered with a generous amount of smooth whipped potato and truffle oil. The unique presentation is purely because the glass jar retains the entire aroma that comes from this hearty dish. The reduced tomato based sauce is splendid with the very tender oxtail. Elbow Room’s Nasi Goreng Pork Belly is causing quite a commotion now, without the overdose of sweet soy sauce, the Chinese style fried rice is served with a generous portion of perfectly cooked pork belly bits and diced paprika. It won't be long before this dish becomes one of the signature dishes out of this hip venue.
To end your amazing dining experience at Elbow Room, we highly recommend the German apple cake which is loafy and but not as moist as an apple strudel dessert or as an alternative, get your dessert spoon into their raspberry creme brulee, which is a sure delight of tangy and sweet flavours. Don't forget to check out their bar for amazing signature cocktails and head upstairs if you are in the mood for a livelier atmosphere.
