Looking for something light and soft to start your meal? Head yourself to Shabu Tei and try their fresh Wakame Tofu Salad. The raw tofu was cut into cubes and covered by sea weeds or nori and topped with a dash of sesame seed. Once you are done with the appetizer, if you want to get the stove in action, get the shabu. Australian Wagyu Beef Shabu is one of them. The shabu is a very simple dish. Almost similar to that of Chinese Steam Boat: Shiitake Mushroom, Enoki Mushroom, Spring Onions, Carrot, Bean Sprouts, Tang o, Chinese Cabbage, Radish, Tofu, Udon and Steamed Rice served along with a hot soup. The warmth of the soup is maintained by means of the stoves on the table so you don't have to worry about the soup getting cold. Take your time to enjoy the fresh vegetables, dip your meat in the soup until it's done, parboiled or still a bit raw, whatever rocks your boat. You can choose to cook the ingredients yourself or you can ask the waitress to do it for you. Shabu Tei also has some sushi specialty of their own. Special Mix Makimono is one of them. You get California Ramaki, Salmon Fry Maki and Tamago Maki. Be warned though, these sushis are not bite sizes. Two to three full mouth bites is needed to finish just one piece. Nevertheless, they are delicious and fresh.
