Yoshinoya, the largest chain among beef bowl (or gyudon) restaurants has finally launched its 100-year old recipe in Jakarta. With already several fast food Japanese restaurants offering standard to fairly good dishes, some of you may be thinking with a sigh, 'Oh no, not another Japanese fast food joint'. However there are several reasons why this place is worthy of a spot in this city of fanatic food hunters. One, being their reputations dates way back to the year 1899 where they first opened for business in a fish market in Tokyo. Scores of people have since queued up in mile long lines, just to get their hands on this crazed delicacy and therefore it is no surprise that Yoshinoya is dubbed as Japan's No.1 beef bowl.

Well the major factor that contributes to Yoshinoya's reputation is that they just simply know all the 'know hows' of making an amazing beef bowl. The thought of generous portions of thinly sliced juicy 100% U.S beef sitting on top of an equally generous portion of Japanese steamed rice, is simply mouthwatering . Their main dishes are the Original Beef bowl which is accompanied by miso soup or the Yakiniku beef accompanied by a clear seaweed soup. The Yakiniku beef bowl is the sweeter version and also a favorite amongst the locals. For those who are not fans of the 'beef' there is also Chicken Teriyaki Bowl which definitely won't disappoint. Also an insider hint is to sprinkle a bit of their homemade cured ginger on top of your beef bowl which makes it an 'even' more delicious combo.

Ironically we believe that Yoshinoya's fried chicken is one of the best fried chickens we ever got our hands on, no offense to the famous Colonel of course. We suspect that they must be using some special flour and oil which is responsible for making the chicken very crispy, flavorful and juicy on the inside.

All of their combo meals are accompanied with eby fry, egg roll, chicken shumai, soup and free flow ice green tea. Simply delicious and worth every penny.
