With a funky name like Delicious onion, and a logo of a purple onion character sticking its tongue out, this establishment surely has its own unique character. A very snug setting of wooden seats, colorful pink cushions and original artwork on their walls you almost feel like you stepped into your hippy neighbors fancy patio. The vibe is very Asian bohemian overall and their menu also reflects a very Asian influenced dish dominated with a lot of pork and chicken dishes.
Their signature dish is the Grilled pork ribs with five spice and honey. You can enjoy this as tapas (perfect for sharing) or as a main course which is served in a bigger portion accompanied with rice. The ribs are prepared daily by the chef and after 24 hour process of steaming it, marinating it, chilling it then grilling it, no wonder the meat is very flavorful and tender that it is tear able! (no pun intended!!)
Butter fish in ginger and rice wine sauce on a bed of spinach that comes with rice and a chicken stock based soup which is very similar to the base soup of the local favorite sop buntut (oxtail soup), is also their specialty. The fresh spinach is very mildly blanched to retain its crunch and fresh flavors which goes superbly well with the creamy corn starch based sauce. Above all the dishes though, we recommend the Crispy pork with garlic and hoi sin sauce. The pork belly is cooked to perfection being super crispy on the top fatty layer and very soft and juicy on the middle layer. The pork in lightly marinated for a whole day then roasted in an oven slowly for 2 hours. If you are looking to enjoy your meal with cocktails then we suggest you take a sip of their pineapple margarita at The Chandu Bar.
