Yamas Authentic Greek Restaurant
Editorial Review
If you have been hankering for some Grecian dishes, then head to South Jakarta to a little place called Yamas. Since their opening, Yamas has charmed their growing customer base with their delightful, yet modest Mediterranean ambience; think of pictures of a calm fishing town and of course, their authentic dishes as well.
The menu is not overcomplicated and you can expect to find classics like Greek salad, Kebab and of course the sweet classic, Baklava. For appetizers, we recommend the savory Spanakopitakia, which is a pie filled with spinach, onion, herbs and smooth feta cheese. You can really tell that they bake these pies fresh on site, as the crunchiness of the filo pastry and the warm fillings is just heartily good. For something more “cool”, as in refreshing, we recommend the Tzatiki with their complimentary bread.
We hope you like your protein for your mains, as Yamas has choices of Kebabs, Souvlaki and our star recommendation the Kontouvsouvli where the sweet and tender lamb meat is served with delicious stewed potatoes and fresh Tzatiki sauce. For something more of a comfort food, we definitely recommend the Moussaka, which is layered with delicious minced beef, potatoes and eggplant. The all-spice and cinnamon is definitely what gives this dish the extra kick.
They have only 2 types of desserts so far which are the Baklava and the Rizogalo, which is a rich and creamy rice pudding. Overall, a great venue for lunch and dinner plus good for value.
